The Alaska fishing season starts in June for red (sockeye) salmon, halibut and trout.
Chartered trips for the almighty king (chinook) salmon begin in July and run until mid-August King salmon range in size from 20 to 75 pounds.
From mid-August through September you can fish for the spunky silver (coho) salmon. The silver can range from 7 to 20 pounds – if caught on light tackle they can put up a harder fight than the mighty king salmon! The red (sockeye) salmon are numerous in the Keani River and can weigh between 6 to 17 pounds.
Alaska king or chinook salmon are known for their incredible size. The silver or coho salmon are known for their superior strength as well as their ability to put up a good fight. The Kodiak waters are also home to Pacific halibut, often weighing in excess of 150 pounds. Dolly Varden, cutthroat and steelhead trout are found in our rivers, lakes, streams and saltwater shoreline areas.
The waters surrounding Kodiak hold a wealth of sea life rivaling the gold in the mountains. The seafood that Alaska is famous for can be caught throughout the Kodiak and southcentral area.

All fish will be brought back to the Kodiak and Anchorage where Alaska Joe will clean, vacuum-pack, freeze, package your catch in airline approved boxes, and help with shipping arrangements for your convenience.
In addition to the exceptional fishing, be sure to bring your camera and lots of film as the sights are as good as the fishing.
